The Cervical Cancer Screen & Treat Course is designed for health workers working in MCH/ FP/ CCC/ maternity with the goal of equipping and preparing them to be competent service providers in the screening and treatment of precancerous lesions. The scope of the course includes cervical cancer screening (VIA, HPV, and Pap test), treatment of precancerous lesions using freezing or ablative treatment, counseling, linkage to care of advance disease, infection prevention, data management, and breast cancer integration. The course consists of two primary components:
• E-learning sessions focusing on the theory related to cervical cancer screening and treatment, including other aspects related to service provision in this regard.
• A three-day group course in a classroom setting with 1 day to review the e-learning content through didactic lectures and skills stations; and 2 days of clinical practicum at a facility.
This is followed by a post-training mentorship period of a least 6 months, whereby trainees will be expected to perform a predetermined set of procedures and fill their clinical practice logbooks.
